Vicki in Colorado asks about how to make the ñ Spanish symbol

Hi Vickie,

This symbol   ñ   requires the following steps:

  1. Make sure that the Num Lock on the right hand side of your keyboard is on. Green Light will appear.
  2. Depress the Alt key and while holding it down, type 0241 on the number pad, right side of keyboard. Then release Alt key and the symbol ñ  should appear.

  1. For the Ñ, depress the Alt key and while holding it down, type 0209 on the number pad, right side of keyboard. Then release Alt key and the symbol  Ñ  should appear.

Tilde---A diacritical mark ( ~ ) placed over the letter n in Spanish to indicate the palatal nasal sound (ny), as in cañon, or over a vowel in Portuguese to indicate nasalization, as in lã, pão.
