History

PayDay was first introduced in 1932 by Frank Martoccio. Martoccio founded the F.A. Martoccio Macaroni Company, and also later served as head of the Hollywood Candy Company. Hollywood also produced the ZERO bar.[1]

I find it surprising that the same company that would introduce such a positive sounding name for a candy bar—Payday—would go on to market a candy bar named “ZERO.”

I also find it surprising that the Hershey’s Chocolate Company in Pennsylvania currently produces Paydays and I find it very reassuring that Payday is one of the few American products not manufactured in China. Over the holidays I saw an individual Christmas tree cookie with green frosty made in China.

A Word of Friendly Advice:

Don’t wait two weeks or a month for your next Payday.   o( *J* )o
